What IS Canine and Abled??

Canine and Abled, Inc. is a nonprofit organization that is comprised of several educational programs that share award-winning, motivational messages designed to help audiences believe in the beauty of their dreams.

The original Canine and Abled program is dedicated to promoting awareness and acceptance of service dog teams through education and inspiration.  This program was originally created to help combat the huge problem of access denial that exists throughout the country today... what was later discovered was that it served another, important need---it inspired others to believe in the beauty of their dreams.

In addition to our award-winning educational program, we provide training services for currently-owned pet dogs (implementing the required advanced task training to elevate the dog's status from pet to service dog as per federal guidelines), consulting for program service dog acquisition, and provide advocacy for service dog handlers who may have had their civil rights violated due to access denial.

We provide corporate service dog education; teaching businesses their rights and responsibilities toward their clientele who utilize service dogs.  We also teach businesses how to spot illegal, "imposter" service dogs---an alarming trend that is currently occurring in the service dog community.

In 2006, we added the Canine Ability Program.  The Canine Ability Program is available nation-wide and provides motivational and highly-entertaining programs featuring dog bite prevention, dogs with jobs, understanding canine communication, responsible dog ownership and more. All this packed in a character-building program which teaches important life-lessons through "pawsitively" thrilling canine entertainment!  This program is perfect for school assemblies, church groups, fairs, dog/horse shows, sports half-time shows, conferences, festivals, trade shows and more.

2010 has been a very busy year for us. We've introduced three brand new programs to our organization.

The Equine Ability Program utilizes hippotherapy and Scripture as a means to offer hope, health, and healing for those suffering from Post Traumatic Stress Disorder (PTSD), depression, cognitive dysfunction and other similar issues in the middle Tennessee area. We offer a special Equine Ability program for our military and their families to help ease transitions from tours of duty, to homecoming, and all the times in between.

The Champion Ability Horsemanship Program is the nation's only horsemanship program which combines horseback riding lessons with award-winning, motivational, life-coaching!  Our trademarked equestrian education program offers not only FUN, affordable, high caliber horsemanship/riding courses, but intertwines the award-winning life-coaching skills to enhance a rider's performance in the riding arena, and in the arena of life! (This program is offered in the middle TN area).

The Brain-Ability program was created to help people understand how delicate their brain can be, and the importance of taking good care of the only one they have.  Brain injury prevention is highlighted in addition to a unique insight into what life is like living with a brain injury.  Compassion, understanding, and acceptance are things that are hard to find when one has a brain injury.  This program highlights some of the real-life struggles of brain injury survivors (and their families) and offers insightful solutions that audiences can easily and effectively achieve to help promote brain injury awareness.  Program includes a musically choreographed task demonstration by one or more of the Canine and Abled dogs.

For those groups seeking a Christian philosophy-based presentation, founder, Kimberly Carnevale shares unique insights that she discovered on her tumultuous, spiritual journey. These insights reaffirm good Christian character traits such as loyalty, faith, trust, obedience, kindness and more.  For more information about the Canine and Abled, Inc. ministries, click here: (C&A Ministries)

Kimberly's incredible, true story provides a backdrop for inspiration; clearly demonstrating how a positive attitude can get us through even the harshest of life's storms...to hear her tell it is magical.

Whether you are looking for a business presentation, school assembly, civic organization speaker, Christian speaker for church services or special events; or a corporate key note presenter; Canine and Abled, Inc. can customize a program to fit your individual needs.

Our commitment stems from a need  to end illegal access denial, to continue to help open doors to free and unobstructed use of service dogs, help promote brain injury awareness and teach brain injury prevention, and help others who are struggling in this life through our unique, award-winning, animal assisted programs.

What IS Canine and Abled?
For centuries, man has welcomed the dog into his life. In ancient times, man would allow the dog to share his fire for warmth and share scraps of food; in return, the dogs would provide protection and assistance in hunting.

Today, we still share our homes with dogs; and often embrace them as full-fledged family members. They live in our homes, sleep in our beds (or those specially made for that special canine in our lives). Some sport fashion accessories and wardrobes fit for a king or queen.  Still others are toted around in bags that are extravagant in style and price tags. But for those of us who own and love dogs, price is no object for doting on our beloved canine friend; for the reward for sharing our lives is unconditional love, patient understanding; and a friend who is there no matter what.

For persons with disabilities who rely upon the assistance of specially trained dogs (called service, or assistance dogs), the rewards are even more significant.  The unending support, love, and dedication that these amazing canines provide for their partners with disabilities is indescribable.

Partnered patients experience an increase in self-esteem and self-confidence; which in turn gives them the courage needed to fight pain and illness.  Their lives are made more secure knowing that their faithful friend is always on guard to protect, comfort and provide often life-saving assistance at a moment's notice.

For these partnered teams, Canine and Abled, Inc. pledges to promote the wonderful benefits that service dogs provide as a means to protect the free and lawful use of these incredible canines; free from harassment, misunderstandings, and illegal access denial.  We are committed to opening doors to unobstructed access; one door at a time...

To the public and our youth; we pledge to share information, provide education about service dogs and disabilities, and inspire as a means to help others believe in the beauty of their dreams...
